DITRA
DITRA is one of the developments of the integrated project Translation, Tradition and Innovation: the role of translations from German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Latin in the Brazilian literary system (1970-2005), of the Traduced Literature Research Group, and aims to make a survey of literary translators in Brazil and outline their profile.
One of the effects of this survey is to offer visibility to this intermediary of cultures that remains persistently undervalued, despite the crucial role in the formation and functioning of our literary system. The project, approved by CNPq, has professor researchers, two of whom are CNPq productivity scholarship holders – and students.
The online publication is the responsibility of the UFSC Translation Center, which has several publications on translation, including the series Classics of Translation Theory.
Based on data from the Index Translationum, a UNESCO publication that compiles translations made in the world and which constitutes the most exhaustive and most respected repertoire on the subject, and bibliographic research in libraries and websites, some criteria were established for the choice of translators included in this initial stage, in which only a fraction of the thousands of translators existing in the country will be represented.
